Meet Dr.Melissa Meng (San Jose, CA)

Melissa Lau Meng, O.D., received her Doctor of Optometry with cum laude honors from the Southern California College of Optometry. She earned her Bachelor of Science in General Biology from the University of California, San Diego.

Dr. Meng is a therapeutic and glaucoma-certified optometrist licensed by both the National and California State Boards of Optometry. Her clinical training included rotations serving veterans, military personnel, and Native American communities, where she gained experience in comprehensive primary eye care and the management of ocular conditions, including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration.

Dr. Meng is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based eye care tailored to each patient’s individual needs. She emphasizes patient education and personalized treatment to help individuals better understand their eye health, protect their vision, and maintain long-term visual wellness.

I’ve been coming to Global Eye Care Optometry for years, and Dr. Cheng and her team have always take... n wonderful care of my entire family. Recently, my eye became swollen and itchy, and since it was difficult to get a timely appointment with an ophthalmologist, I reached out to Dr. Cheng for a last-minute appointment. She was kind enough to squeeze me into her busy schedule. After examining my eye, she told me it was a stye and explained how to care for it at home. I followed her instructions and applied warm compresses, and my eye has since healed. I really appreciated her taking the time to examine my eye, explain what was going on, and guide me on what to do. What I truly appreciate about Dr. Cheng is her genuine care for her patients. She takes the time to listen to me and chat with me, rather than making me feel like I’m just there for a routine exam. She makes me feel comfortable and cared for. The entire staff is professional and helpful with everything from pretesting and retinal imaging to contact lens fittings and Ortho-K guidance. They are also very patient when explaining insurance benefits, which I really appreciate. They also offer a fantastic selection of high-end frames, including Silhouette and OVVO. Over the years, I’ve bought four pairs of Silhouette frames and two pairs of OVVO frames here. They’ve held up so well that I’m still wearing them today. Whenever my prescription changes, I simply stop by to update my lenses. I’m so grateful to Dr. Cheng and her amazing team for taking such good care of my family over the years. I highly recommend Global Eye Care Optometry!
